Being cheap increases the possibility of card errors or data corruption. If you are looking to spend less money, don't buy a cheap card. You will avoid problems by purchasing a name brand memory card with a smaller capacity. Secure Digital SD memory cards come in four different specifications.
Each new card spec increases the maximum storage capacity and transfer speeds of the card. The speed rating of an SD memory card is based on sequential read and write speeds. Card speed is very important for video and continuous shooting. This is because the camera's buffer is not able to write to the SD card fast enough.
When shooting video, a slow card can cause the recording to stop. The video file could also be corrupted. If you intend to capture video, it is essential the card you use meets the requirements of the camera. Imagine filing all of your important documents a certain way and then your spouse comes in a re-organizes the files their way.

Having a fast card will also benefit your video capture by keeping the flow of video frames moving quickly to your card. If you have already purchased a memory card, consider getting another.
Nothing is worse than almost filling your card and then having to either erase shots or choose a lower-quality image format so that you can keep on shooting. With the cost of memory cards what it is, keeping a spare just makes good sense. Also, you should only format your SDXC card in your camera.
